I don't agree with your opinions and takes at all about Cyclops or the new era, but sometimes the best thing to do is to take a break. Take care of yourself, reset, come back to the X-Men comics later one day.
Tom has already confirmed (in #113) that he will address what actually happened between the 3 characters in the pages of the upcoming books, perhaps Jean in the hot tub scene (and the other few moments in the Percy run) may not actually be real Jean or whatever, so why not wait until it's revealed later then u can complain if it was to your liking or not.
Ugh! I wondered where I’d picked that up! I’d managed to avoid it for four whole years. Covid really does suck! I know that now. Hope you feel better soon.
That Wuhan story is just a cover up because EVERYONE knows the 'rona was created in a lab in Saskatchewan as a bioweapon to protect Canada's southern border.
Just because no one's saying it doesn't mean it's true.
The question about “destroying characters” brought up Beast’s heel turn during the Krakoa era and made me remember another heel turn that seemed rather strange to me when it happened: Phil Coulson joining Mephisto during Jason Aaron’s AVENGERS run. Do you remember why Coulson was chosen as the bad guy? As an editor, how do you know when a heel turn (or a face turn) will work for a character and when it might be better to leave them where they are?
I also wonder if by "destroying", the original commentor didn't perhaps just mean heel turning a character or taking them down a darker path that unfortunately "poisons the well", not necessarily implying that the creater is actively trying to ruin a character. And as far as "any character can be dusted off and be redeemed", I think Hank Pym would like a word. Several attemps have been made to "dust him off", and they never stick. I've heard anecdotally that he is a character creators have tried to ruin, because domestic abuse is one of the few crimes in comics that should never be forgiven.
I know that you can't say much about it for now but there's anything that you can say more about iceman & thunderbird and why do you think that we're gonna be talking about them a lot by the end of the year
Tom, I'm so sorry to hear that you got the bug. Please rest up, and here's hoping your recovery is swift and smooth. It would be an act of malicious cruelty to pose a difficult question to you at a time like this, so in that spirit, allow me to pose a difficult question to you: when the X-Men play their favored team sport, is it underhand softball, or overhand baseball? Your answers will henceforth be considered canon.
Speaking of Covid (sorry about that, by the way), was there ever any talk of showing how Covid affected the Marvel universe? Would an individual title have been allowed to introduce a Covid storyline?
Very sorry to hear about Covid; hope you're on the mend soon.
One question that's been in my head lately: do you see any parallels between editing the Avengers titles in the aftermath of Secret Wars and editing the X-books in the aftermath of Krakoa? And if so, is there anything you learned from the former that you've applied to the latter?
I am sorry Mr Brevoort Hope you recove y soon, the best wishes and iI am agree with your with Cyclops like leader and her marriage with Jean now I can not ask to you that I would like and not will disturb more only want that Kitty has a big role with you 💪💪💪💪💪
Tom…hope you’re feeling better. Looking forward to your turn on X-Men. I enjoyed quite a bit of the Krakoa era and it’s not like I can’t go back and reread some of it to enjoy it again if I feel the urge. I am sorry tho to see G.O.D.S. end. Wasn’t sure about it initially but there have been a few times recently when reading it that I thought it was Marvel’s best, most unique title. Course, typing this on Sunday haven’t picked up the last issue yet but…was it always going to be a mini series?
Hope the Covid is as minor a case as possible, Tom, with no long Covid effects. (Had the so slight a case that I had assumed it was a flu bug but... and now the allergies get worse all the time. Might have to do all my breathing during the winter...
And I'm sure some of you out there will disagree but FFS stay vaccinated, if not for yourself, at least for those who you might infect who maybe aren't interested in getting the 'rona.
Anyway, 'nuff said.
I'm throwing this out for opinions, not just from Tom; read and provide any thoughts:
I'm not sure how I feel about a full Marvel method, like where back in neolithic times Stan said he'd give Kirby or whoever like a couple of lines of plot and and then the artist would fill in a s*** ton of story telling beats and stuff. During the Marvel age, Kirby and, more obviously, Ditko could do that regularly, I guess Colan, Romita, Buscema, Adams, Kane and Steranko and... that's about all. Others of course had to do as well at the time but only with questionable success.
I think the tl;dr position is that *an* advisable position is giving the artist the beats and necessary execution and pretty much nothing else. Maybe a draft of dialogue or some dialogue with a final draft being left to the final pass after the art is received.
IMO of course, YMMV...
And back to the link there and the artist failing to have two characters looking at each other while speaking. Suffic to say, in an early issue of the Avengers, Kirby had Tony, Hank and Jan (IIRC) in their civvies speaking to each other in a panel. And somehow it looked exciting. Just a clip of conversation. Kids, that what makes a master a master.
Stay healthy, y'all. Specially with the 'rona. There's no reason to get it and no justifiable reason to do nothing about avoiding it.
And from the YMMV department, I really liked how Cyclops was handled during the Krakoa age. He had a swagger, specially under Duggan. I liked the vibe between he and Magik. But ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Madelyne Prior will appear in X-men From the ashes #7, which is the digital only comic not the core X-Men title.

sorry you got covid but glad my beaver shenanigans could entertain you

Where WAS Chip in 2019?
Exactly! So much being covered up, like you wouldn’t believe.
Those Canadians…
We were up there for long enough last Summer and, well… we got their number. At least no Canuckarona virus.
I think you're an Omega-level Editor Tom!

Hank Pym is a good counterexample but 99% Tom is right and the characters are durable

Is Namor still considered a mutant? If so, can we expect him to interact with the core X-Men in this new era?
Do you think comics will ever be cooler than that time The Todd did a debate with Peter David shirtless?
That wasn't even cool.
And wasn't comics, either!
[I was there. It all happened in one panel and there were no word balloons or anything.]
"one panel"
If intentional, this is a hell of a pun.
It was in the con schedule as a panel and everything.
