When I was growing up, from time to time my Grandmother would often ask me in earnestness, “Why do you need so many books?” She wasn’t a reader like most of the rest of my family, outside of the occasional novel and the evening paper.
Are there any plans for Sam Alexander/Nova in the works? I feel like he used to be everywhere in the 2010s but now is so rarely utilized (he hadn’t appeared in anything between Fallen Friend in 2023 and New Champions #3 next month). With Imperial seemingly being the next sprawling cosmic epic, and Richard Rider apparently having a role (based on the teaser), could a place be found for Sam Alexander either in that book or elsewhere?
Sucks to see X-Force, NYX and X-Factor go, I was enjoying X-Force and NYX. Hopefully there's more books to come.
I'm Looking forward to Kitty Pryde and Wolverine 2 by the man himself Claremont. Wolverine in Japan and with Kitty Pryde, Ogun or Marko Yashida is always a fun story.
Here’s a very left-field suggestion: Classic Thunderbolts vs the Secret Society of Super Villains. Let’s say the Ultra-Humanite version from JLA 195-197, which would allow an appearance by my favorite DC villain, the Psycho Pirate. Preferably set in the Kurt/Mark era before the Tbolts have fully committed to being good guys. Both teams are after some kind of world-dominating MacGuffin. Maybe a guest appearance at the end by the Satellite Era JLA.
I’m glad really glad Hope was mentioned and her death acknowledged in Cable love and chrome #2. It still sucks she’s dead and doesn’t get any greater acknowledgement of her sacrifice or role in saving the day but at the very least her father remembers her and we get some indication of how he feels about it. Still hoping for a resurrection sooner rather than later, she IS the messiah after all!
First I'd heard that X-Force (and from the comments NYX and X-Factor) had been cancelled. Disappointing. I've tried all the new X books apart from Magik and ranking them in order I'd have them like the following with the ones in the second block being "okay but might drop" and X-Factor I've already dropped.
Ah, but which DP and X-Men? Knowing Jess, I'd suspect he'd like the original two teams that with all their similarities first came out within the same month or so.
I love receiving and reading this on a Sunday afternoon. The New Warriors section is great. I loved the run and recall the issues you are giving the inner take on. I am with you on the books
/reading section - semi retired last summer after 33 years as a teacher and Headmaster (what you call in the US a Principle); so more time to read and I have so many books and comics. Is there any run of comics you would like to see as an Epic Edition that hasn’t been published?
Sorry to correct, but that'd be a "Principal", not "Principle". This jumps out at me because I once was first screener for a major company's Technical Writer positions, and a listing on a resume of a past job as a "Principle Technical Writer" was distressingly not uncommon. It was really bad if it was supposed to be at a rival big company that, at the time, was not considered very principled. I always wanted to call up such candidates and ask "If you were a Principle [spell out the word] Tech Writer as X, a company known for not having many principles, just what did you *do* all day?" : -)
Original Thunderbolts vs the Suicide Squad (Busiek/Bagley era vs Ostrander/Mcdonnel era teams): villains pretending to be heroes vs villains sorta trying to be heroes!
I would love to see a Guardians of the Galaxy/Green Lantern Corps crossover (and then, perhaps, a Guardians of the Galaxy/Legion of Super-Heroes crossover set a thousand years later).
In any case, I'm sure the news of a new DC/Marvel (or Marvel/DC) crossover surprised a lot of people, especially since I thought (and it had been reiterated by a number of writers and editors of the years) that any crossover between Marvel and DC would be *so* complicated to do these days with all the lawyers involved that it wouldn't be cost effective for either company. So, if I may ask: how did this happen *now*?
Was it just luck? The fact that the industry as a whole needed a boost, so both companies decided to overcome the internal bureaucracy of Disney and Warner Bros? Or was this crossover something that had been in the works for a long time and is only now coming into fruition? I do remember that there had been some rumors during the pandemic that Marvel and DC might do a crossover to help boost sales then, but nothing came about; however, last year, we did get a reprint of JLA/Avengers and those new omnibi for DC vs Marvel and the Amalgam Age.
Actually, we've been getting omnibi for ROM, Micronauts, and Godzilla, too. *And* we're getting a new Godzilla vs Marvel crossover. Is the fact we're getting a new DC/Marvel crossover simply the fact that Marvel is way more open to crossovers with other companies in general now?

I hope we can see the characters from X-force (particular sage, forge, Betsy, and Rachel) and NYX even though the books are ending with 10.
Love me some She Hulk, I actually just started this FF series but I’ve heard nothing but good things.
If I could get one crossover… it would be something like Teen Titans/Young Avengers (or Champions).

That is such a perfect idea - for you and me at least. Can't see it being a big seller but I'd love it!
JLA 195-197 were some of my first and favourite comics! Great JLA/JSA story for the ages.

Doom Patrol/X-Men!

Ms. Marvel / Peacemaker
Superman & Captain America. An actual team up as opposed to the Super Soldier mashup.
Guardians of the Galaxy vs Legion of Super Heroes. more heroes than you can shake a stick at!
The Question/Foolkiller would be my dream. Two rather Randian characters, though one started earnest and the other was satirical.
"So what’s the best Marvel/DC crossover that’s never been done?"
Captain Britain Corps & Green Lantern Corps/Star Sapphire Corps
or
Captain Britain (Betsy Braddock) & Amethyst (Amy Winston)/Star Sapphire (Carol Ferris)
Original Thunderbolts vs the Suicide Squad (Busiek/Bagley era vs Ostrander/Mcdonnel era teams): villains pretending to be heroes vs villains sorta trying to be heroes!
Yeah, I'll take all of that.
Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen working at the Daily Bugle
or
Venom bonds with Bizarro.
