You answered Montana’s question about whether or not Wiccan and Hulkling would appear in Imperial, so I thought I’d go for it and ask: will we see Sam Alexander/Nova in Imperial?

"But, for example, I don’t think you can point to a story on the face of the Earth that would be better if the characters weren’t named in it."

Are there any plans to use the G.O.D.S. characters beyond the Doom one-shot and Scarlet Witch & Vision? Edit: And Giant-Size Amazing Spider-Man, apparently.

"I don’t think you can point to a story on the fact of the Earth that would be better if the characters weren’t named in it." - The Handmaid's Tale? The Ocean At The End Of The Lane? Withnail And I? The Witches? Heart Of Darkness? Breakfast At Tiffany's? Fight Club? The Tell-Tale Heart? Rebecca? Layer Cake? Those come to mind... And in comics, The Immortal Iron Fist uses that to effect.

Speaking of metro NYC comics shops, I have a small collection of books of not-insignificant value. (Only two that come to mind is a first edition of book 1 of “Dark Knight Returns” in unbelievably pristine condition and Burne Hogarth’s Tarzan GN from the 70s, also in great condition.)

So the question is: can anyone recommend buyers in the metro NYC area who deal fairly? I’m too old to get into jerking around games.

TIA

"I think there’s a better-than-zero chance of this happening, Joel." ´:-/

Oh no, I really don't know what to think about it, I don't know whether to be happy or sad, because low probabilities are like zero. Anyway, I feel like now there were two questions that you chose not to really answer. :´-((

I wouldn't read too much into "better-than-zero". He's mentioned before that he doesn't really want to announce books here, so all it means is that there will be a book at some point, but he likely won't say more than that.

"Any chance of Dani Moonstar leading an X-team in this new era? Maybe even a solo book? Or at least joining a team? Loving her in Magik and just want to see more of her!

Well, as you say, Joe, she’s in MAGIK at the moment. But this possibility has been leaning a little bit more likely in recent months. so stay tuned."

He could have said something like that, because if I were a Dani fan, I would be very happy right now because Tom is actually saying that there's a good chance that she will get her own team or even her own solo. :(

I think Tom mentioned before that they were exploring the idea of a Cyclops mini-series.

Do you know why JLA/AVENGERS is the only story missing from the DC VS MARVEL omnibus? Are there any plans to do a reprint of the trade anytime soon now that DC and Marvel are open to collaboration again?

When a character who normally appears in a group book gets a miniseries or solo book, is it implied this is the first time they've had an independent away-from-the-team adventure? Or that all the characters have nonstop busy lives, and we'll hear about a minus-their-team adventure from Vision or Iceman or Johnny Storm now?

If we’re still mentioning great final issues - All Star Western #34 by Justin Grey, Jimmy Palmiotti & Darwyn Cooke. It wrapped up J&J’s 105 issue run (!!!) but it tied up Jonah’s previous series as well. Beautiful art by Dar never hurt any book either.

Thanks for sharing the image Butch sent me. I would really like for people to see him as more than just a talented artist. He was funny. He really thought about the work he did. He was far more versatile than many folks thought. And he also somehow managed to leave multiple projects that he and I worked on...some of which he brought me onto work with him...I asked him WTF? I figured it must be personal somehow. He'd laugh and assure me it wasn't and we'd get on another project together...and he'd leave. Normally I'd just stop working with someone after that. Not Butch. I was thrilled to work with him anytime no matter how limited. And sometimes working together was just an excuse to be able to chat more often about stuff that had nothing to do with the comics we did.

Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Butch in person, I had the great privilege of hiring him to do a couple of covers for AWA Studios over the past two years. I always enjoyed his Instagram posts where he effused his love of both comic book and strip artists. We had good dialogue via email and messaging, and I hate that I won’t get to work with him again (he was excited about the prospect of helping out on a potentially big project we were circling). Condolences to his family and friends.

More Dani and hopefully the other New Mutants is always welcome. Would there ever be a chance of publishing the Fall of X Unlimited series that Dani was a part of? Her leading X-Corp alongside Sunspot and half of Krakoa Excalibur was an amazing story and I know some fans like myself would love to have it in print to complete our collections. :)

An acknowledgement that Cyclops once was grooming her for overall X-Leadership despite her having lost her powers would be nice too.

True. I'm hoping that the new school that was referenced during X-Manhunt involves her, calling back to her conclusion in the Apocalypse mini.

But that was another great part of the X-Corps arc of Unlimited: everyone, even Cap and Berto, treated her like she was in charge with no fuss.

Realm of X was one of the only titles near the end of Krakoa that I liked, so it's cool to see Mirage and Magik together.

Haha, couldn’t finish the newsletter, had to come beg for Dani Moonstar as a team leader since you’ve said it’s become more likely! That’s so (potentially) exciting!

I did get to experience free comic day, my first one actually. Everyone was so kind and excited to be there. Cool experience for sure. Now I just need to find the time to read what I picked up

"Kirby only worked on the first couple of S.H.I.E.L.D. stories, turning the series over to other hands, none of whom had quite his explosive imagination."

Minor correction: Kirby plotted (or co-plotted) and laid out the first 19 S.H.I.E.L.D. chapters, including the first few Steranko issues. He penciled the first one, and then a two-parter later, but he was in there doing story/layouts right up until Steranko fully took over.

Ah shame about no Warlock in Imperial Tom (we need him back). Still, you’ll be pleased to hear that despite that, I’m a big enough fan of

Marvel’s cosmic characters and Jonathan’s work, to still be picking up Imperial.

Reading a bunch of comics from the 90s that got cancelled in the same month -- Morbius and Silver Sable in this example -- and it got me wondering whether this was just coincidence, or whether there are certain times of year where you're checking the profitability of the line and cancelling series.

Continuity question about the latest FF; For I believe for the first time, Reed states that the cosmic rays that gave the FF their powers were special ones, so to turn Ben back into the Thing, he has to be exposed to those same rays. Presumably to cover why Neil Armstrong didn't turn into Stretch Armstrong and the like.

So then, how did the Red Ghost and his Super-Apes and the U-Foes get their powers? They also were exposed to cosmic rays, in attempts to emulate the FF getting their powers (figure most space flights in the MU are properly shielded, while these guys deliberately left it off).

No-Prize attempt. Rarely, there are bursts of, oh, let's call them cosmic power rays, which can give Terrans powers. But they're not otherwise consistent. So if Ben wants to return to being the Thing, he needs that same set of rays. If the FF had instead gone back to the rays that powered up RG and the Apes, Ben would've transformed into something different, with a side order of since it was a different batch of cosmic power rays, his gaining powers from them wouldn't have stopped the rest of the FF from losing their powers.
